Of course. Because you wrote a piece from the POV of a woman, about dating men. So it was the men who were mostly your "target" and being irked. It's not that men are jerks (well, some are, not most).

If I write a piece about me (a man) dating women, men will empathize and women will complain, of course. :-)

It's not that one gender is worse or better. It's that everybody adopts a subjective and personal POV.
