I think this kind of dissatisfaction may happen to both men and women, but they often react differently. When a break point is reached, usually the woman "walks away" (*), while the man might find a lover or an affair. Of course sometimes it's the reverse. :-)

(*) As a matter of fact, the majority of divorces (around 70–75% in most of the West) are initiated by the woman.
