I mostly agree with your thesis, but:
- Not all self-help "gurus" are frauds. Some are good teachers who can really help people in need of guidance and insights (like YOU are doing :-). Beware of the "I know it all", of course!
- You make self-realization too simple. Many people can't understand themselves or their blocks, they need some external help; that's why therapists and teachers exist. Or they cannot spend 10 or 20 years digging down. Yes, some people can develop their true self on their own - most people cannot. It's called the "UN-conscious" for a reason ;-)
- A book (or a work of art) can be good and useful even if its author is a bad or despicable person. "Think and grow rich" is a really valid book - even if Hill's morals were debatable. Making "ad hominem" attacks to the author tells us nothing about his work; Newton was a total asshole, but that doesn't make him less of a genius.
- Some typos make your writing appear less good than it is: Napolean instead of Napoleon; angles instead of angels. It looks sloppy.
