But, more seriously, I wonder: could it be moms lie so much to avoid acknowledging that, maybe, a part of them really is somehow unhappy about this children stuff...?

I mean, a woman discovering "I actually quite dislike being a mother" would feel horrible... hence the need to lie to herself.

After all, it's been proven that couples with children are, on average, less happy than couples without. But no parent feels "allowed" to say this out loud.
