Of course. Only dimwits (or wokes) think an author can only be either all good, or all bad.
I just finished reading "The man in the high castle" by Philip K. Dick: it was quite rubbish (although I usually like him). The plot went nowhere, and it felt like the author didn't know what was doing, or didn't care about it. And yet... it was obvious Dick can write (doh!), and at times it was brilliant. Light and shadows.
Regarding your "novelist dream", it's clear you have mastery of the words, and a soul full of fruits to share. Hence I'd say you have good chances. :-)
