I agree there's this women's tactic of shaming men with the "real men" argument. But, honestly, it's the whole society doing that, and even advertising (years ago there was an ad campaign with the slogan "Man card revoked!").
Since men have always been seen as expendable, shaming them was a common way to push them into behaviors useful to others: "Be a man", "Earn your honor", "Don't be a coward", "Do the right thing"... yeah, the "right thing" for everybody else but him. Because nobody cared for him.
