I think that, as a species, we evolve veeeery slowly. The recent - and utterly pointless - wars are proof enough.

Maybe we need another 4 millions years to become all enlightened. ;-D

Or, maybe, we're simply not designed to evolve that way. We're still animals, after all, and our instincts and gut reactions still often drive us.
