Most of the time these "icks" are just signs of little or zero compatibility.
Hence, in these cases is not about the other person being “wrong” per se, but it’s about the “chemistry” between two people — or the lack of it. E.g., a strongly liberal person might feel “ick-ed” by a staunch conservative one, or vice-versa; or, in another area, being enthusiastic about sex or being lukewarm and reluctant about it.
There’s nothing wrong in being a liberal or a conservative, or being hyper-sexed or under-sexed, of course; but being on the polar opposites of a mindset usually makes getting along, or just understand each other, mighty difficult.
