This sounds like "Woman (and kids) first, man last". He's kind of a "third wheel", useful but optional.

According to the Dr. it's ok (and even advisable) when the woman loves the man less than vice-versa. And yet, I wonder how many therapists - and women - would think that having a man loving you less than you love him is just fine.

You know, I find it ironic that one day is all about equality and stuff, and then - when it's convenient - it's double standards again...
